The Calgary Roadrunners Club offers 10K training and
learn-to-run programs, whether you are looking to improve your times or wishing to compete in your first event. Runners are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced groups, with coaches for each level. Coaches are experienced and certified (non-professional) volunteers from the Calgary Roadrunners Club. The program is free for club members, and newcomers are invited to try us out for a few weeks before you join.
Overview of the Program
- The workouts are held every Tuesday and Thursday night at Edworthy Park. All sessions start at 6:30 p.m. and are usually done by 8:00 p.m.
- After the October time change, the meeting locale moves to the Olympic Oval, downstairs near thelong jump pit. The meeting time is 7:00 pm and if it's warm, the workout occurs outside, so bring wamr clothes just in case.
- The Tuesday workout is normally includes drills, intervals, and/or tempos. The Thursday workout is designed for strength training (featuring stairs or hills).
- Basic, intermediate, and advanced training programs have been prepared, to suit most everyone.
- Personalized coaching is available if you would like advice on meeting your particular goals.
- After the Thursday workout, the group heads out for some electrolyte replenishment at Moose McGuire's or other suitable watering hole (because life shouldn't be all hard work).
