Only 4 intrepid runners made it to this, the first club night of Spring. Or at least what most of the world calls, Spring. And we had typical Calgary Spring weather! Windy, cloudy, snowing, sleeting, and raining. The only things missing were lightning and hail! Oh yeah… sunshine was also markedly absent. Jason Ramsey, Karen Cooksley, myself, and Ed Batley, a high school buddy of mine recently returned from 20 years in Montreal, rounded out this motley crew.
Usually, everyone takes off and does their own thing, then meets back at the Key West Grill. But this time, all of us were happy to do a slow 5 K from 14th street to Prince’s Island, so we all went off together, joking about the weather.
Back at the Grill, it was a busy night with 2 hockey games on, so the poor lone waitress and the kitchen, were both having trouble keeping up, but we managed to get enough beer to keep us happy, and when the nachos finally arrived, they were attacked as if by starving wolves. Or was I just thinking about myself?
Anyway, a good time by all, and we were out of there in plenty of time to keep our vehicles legal as the on-street parking around there at the green coloured parking meters is free after 6 PM, with a 3 hour limit.
See you next month! May 17th, 6:30 PM, Key West Bar and Grill, 1104 6 Avenue SW.
