Twelve Mile Coulee & Nose Hill Xcountry Races
Time to do some catching up! I was away for the Nose Creek xcountry but I hear it went off without a hitch. Good work, Steve and team!
The Twelve Mile Coulee race had a perfect day for running! This course has the usual great recipe for being a xcountry event: hills, single track, loose snow, ice, even some mud, but the best ingredient is the creek crossing. Sometimes it's sheer ice, sometimes it's slushy ice. Whatever the case, spikes of some type are needed and this year was no exception. Kudos to Adam for a nicely flagged course and Kim for the admin details. Even though the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect for running, the finish line volunteers are the real heroes for withstanding the chilly wind that blew upon them. Thanks Mardy and Rob!
Saturday, February 6, 2016. Let's all go run on a skating rink! The balmy temperatures have turned all trails into ribbons of ice! Trev's Nose Hill xcountry is already a fun challenge but this day runners had 4 or 8 km of ice ahead of them. If you didn't have spikes of some type and made it through the course unscathed, you must be able to walk on water! Thanks to Trev and his team for a nicely flagged course. Again, another perfect day to race except for the bitter wind. But that's Calgary. Aren't the volunteers a hardy bunch??
