Volunteers needed for Calgary Marathon
Run Calgary (#CalgaryMarathon) reached out to our club for help with Canada’s longest running marathon; Calgary Marathon will have its 58th anniversary on May 29th.
From the volunteer coordinator Jill:
“The Calgary Marathon race weekend requires approximately 1000 volunteers to put on this event, and there are still a large number of volunteer roles that need to be filled. Our greatest need at this time is for Course Marshals. We still need ~ 100 Course Marshals along the race course to keep race participants safe and help to create an energy-filled and motivational experience for runners by controlling traffic, cheering loudly, and actively supporting these athletes in achieving their finish line goals.
I am hoping that Calgary Road Runners members who are not participating in this year’s 2022 Calgary Marathon race event, family members and friends will be able to volunteer as Course Marshals or in other roles.”
In the “What do I get” column, on the poster below, a couple of important items seem to be missing:
– a lot of good karma
– community builder level 2 unlocked
CRR has been a life-long partner with Calgary Marathon, and for those almost 60 years we have been helping to ensure the event is successful and memorable.
Please consider volunteering on May 27-29. You can sign up at www.calgarymarathon.com/
