CRR 2020-21 Grand Prix Awards and BBQ
July 21 @ 6:00 pm
UPDATE #1 –
due to the current Calgary Fire Ban, we won’t have the real fire BBQ, but there will be at least one propane BBQ. City of Calgary lifted the fire ban on July 22nd, so we are back to the original BBQ plan.
UPDATE #2 – The Orienteering event sponsored by FWOC. If you are planning on running the Orienteering course, please let me know (email here) by Wednesday morning which course – the FWOC club will print out a map for you.
“There will be 2 courses:
- an easier and shorter course, almost all on trails, 2.3km, ~80m of climb. Some route decisions will have to be made between controls.
- A longer and somewhat harder course, mostly on trails, 5.6k, ~180m of climb. Route decisions will have to be made.
Come and join us on Wednesday July 21 2021 to celebrate the completion of the Calgary Roadrunners cross-country Grand Prix 2020-2021 series.
The Grand Prix series committee created beautiful awards for these outstanding and dedicated athletes, which will be presented to those in attendance on July 21st at 19:15.
The Award ceremony will be held at picnic site 9 of the South Edworthy Park (the North side of it, between the railroad and Bow). The Club has reserved the picnic site, and the BBQs will be hot and ready for food at 17:30. Bring your own favorite BBQ food and drinks (we are still wary about COVID, so the Club won’t be serving food – but we may provide some cold drinks).
Sathish (the CRR club night run coordinator) will lead those who want to work up an appetite onto a short run at 18:30, and the Calgary Orienteering Club FWOC has kindly offered to set up an orienteering course for us, starting also at 18:30.
5:30 pm – BBQ stoves are ready for BBQ-ing
6:30 pm – Douglas Fir Trail run start led by Sathish
6:00 pm – Orienteering event organized by the Calgary Orienteering Club
7:15 pm – Awards, BBQ, and social
