CRR Summer Events Series – The Streak (June)
June 1 @ 12:00 am - June 30 @ 11:30 pm
Not to compete with the juggernauts of virtual races like Quarantine Backyard Ultra or Run Across Tennessee, but to add some motivation, diversion from anxiety, and fun to the race-less summer, Calgary Roadrunners Club (CRR) will be offering a series of running events in the form of virtual racing and streaking. Get ready to earn bragging rights!
The events are free, open to all runners (not only CRR members), and the Club offers a number of randomly drawn prizes each month. We love our members, so they will receive twice as many ballots in the draws. You can be a Club member too!
Each summer month will see two types of CRR Sponsored events:
- Streaks of at least one mile a day, and
- Age-graded “races” of various distances.
The Streak – similar to the Strides December Running streak, it’ll require the highest level of commitment to go outside, and run, jog, or walk at least one mile (1,609 m for us metric geeks) a day – or should we make it the statute mile in June (since Alberta does not have a statutory holiday in June), the Roman mile (1.48km) in July (Hail, Julius Caesar!), and the nautical mile (1.85 km) in August? It may be safe to just go for 2K, to avoid any confusion 🤔
There will be draw prizes for those who have successfully completed the streak, and kids under 13 will also be eligible for ice cream gift certificates, in addition to regular draw prizes.
You will need to report your monthly streak completion on this ⇒ Google Form ⇐ within a week after month end (the Form becomes active on the last day of the month). We will draw prizes and announce winners on the 8th of the following month, and the winners will have until the end of that month to pick up their prizes. Unclaimed prizes will roll over to the next month’s draw.
** Event stats **
- Thirty-three participants, including four young runners under 13 years old
- Total 6,390 km logged by the runners
