Junior Track
The Junior Track program is offered to youths aged 14 to 19 and caters to all abilities. The goal of the program is to fill the gap created by the cancelling of all school sports and provide a base level of fitness.
Everyone is welcome to attend even if running is not your primary sport. Achieving a base level of fitness through running will help any type of athlete excel regardless of their primary sport. Naturally, if running is one’s primary sport, then this program will be of greatest benefit.
There is no cost to join the program except an active student membership in Calgary Roadrunners Club. The annual cost is only $15. There is though, a very important requirement to remain a member of the program and that is dedication.
Dedication is defined as attending every practice and giving your best effort. All abilities are welcome regardless of talent or experience. All that is asked is dedication.
Practices are held once a week at River Park (meet at the corner of 50th Avenue and 14th Street in the South West) with runs on the city pathways. In the spring, practices will be held on the track at Glenmore Athletic Park. Practices are every Saturday from 12:00 noon to 1:15 pm.
Prior to attending a practice, please complete the registration form and wait for acknowledgment from the coach since enrollment is limited.
Junior Track is coached by Mario Festival, certified endurance coach with Athletics Canada. With many years of experience coaching adults and youths, Mario Festival has been the distance coach with Calgary Warriors Track Club since 2013.
